The book prepares you to take part in a communication process where all skills are used (listening, speaking, reading and writing). Different chapters describe the process of communication in detailed ways and attention is paid to skills which are important for your career and development.
Chapter 1 presents the foundations of interpersonal communication, giving information about the structure and objectives of communication.

Chapter 2 concentrates mainly on listening and speaking skills. The most important features of a good speaker are presented. Also, you will find some tips there to help you in your future career.

Chapter 3 defines different types of nonverbal communication. It presents nonverbal examples, their meaning in communication and use in different situations.

Chapters 4 and 5 describe the issue of public speaking. All important aspects are analysed including detailed planning, organizing and delivery. You will also find information on how best to organize visual aids and address your audience.

Chapter 6 starts the second part of the book concentrating on writing skills. You can learn how paragraphs are written in English and what their structure is. Then you will discover how to prepare summaries using key words, precise word meaning and linking words.

Chapter 7 concentrates on writing reports. Examples of different reports are given with focus on grammar and style.

Chapter 8 gives a short introduction to research paper writing. Grammar, style, organization and language choice (English for Academic Purposes) are analysed with examples.

Chapter 9 presents some examples of business correspondence which are ready to be used by you. You may find pieces of writings in different styles there.

The book provides a list of key terms at the end of each chapter and at the end of the book, which will help you find the exact meaning and check the usage in the text. Exercises in the chapters are for you to make communication more practical. Work with your partner or team, discuss, argue and debate on various topics! There are also follow-up exercises which can be done individually or in a group. Their role is to broaden the topic and practice the skill more. They can be used as additional activity by students interested in developing their skills. The authors included thematic bibliography at the end of each chapter.
